Welcome to our very first newsletter!
We have so much happening all the time and we are so excited to be able to share it with you!
The year is coming to a speedy end and we know everyone is excited for their holidays, so we will keep it short and sweet!
The last few months have been busy, very busy. Kitten season is in full swing and that has led to us having 33 beautiful kittens in various foster homes, all waiting patiently to be adopted. Despite this being a very slow time for adoptions we have had some stunning adoptions, it’s always so wonderful when our little ones get to go home and start their purrrever journey with their new families.
We have been on a mission to trap, sterilize and return as many cats as possible and our trusty volunteers have worked hard to get this done. Come rain or shine, our team are always up to the task to help improve the lives of our feral cats.
Considering that we are a volunteer-based organization and all of our team members have full time jobs, we are proud of just how much we are able to achieve and the difference we are able to make, none of this would be possible without your support of course.
We have so many cuddle bums looking for homes, if you are considering adding a kitten (or 2) to your family, please send an email to adopt@hartiesferalcats.co.za and let us know what you are looking for.
We have kittens in all shapes and sizes at the moment, ready to fill the kitten-shaped hole in your life.
It doesn’t happen often that we have adult cats in our care. However, when we do, they very seldom get adopted and are always overlooked.
Adult cats are incredible and we so wish that people would give them a chance.
Our beautiful Milly Moon, was rescued from a terrible situation but she has fully recovered and blossomed into a beautiful girl, ready to take on the world.
Please get in touch with us if you can offer this black-beauty a forever home. Email: adopt@hartiesferalcats.co.za
You snooze you lose folks, these lucky bums all got adopted recently and are now living their best lives with their new families.
We are always sad to see our kittens leave but we know this means that we can help the next kitten who comes our way.
Be happy in your new home’s little ones, you so deserve it.
Each month we go through 1600kg of food to keep all our feral cats fed. Our food bill is our biggest hurdle each month.
Please consider signing up for a small, monthly debit order to help lighten the burden.
Email: admin@hartiesferalcats.co.za to sign up and help change the lives of these beautiful cats and help us to keep their tummies full.
For those living in Harties, we have some food donation bins at the following places.
Every single bag of food helps us to get through the month.
Thank you to everyone who has donated via our donation bins, your donations really do go a long way in keeping our ferals fed each month.
We currently have food donations bins at:
So, we would like to take this opportunity to give a quick rundown of what exactly TNR means.
TNR stands for “Trap, Neuter, Return”.
This is a method used to manage the population of feral cats. We use humane “traps” which are laced with fish and set up in a way to lure feral cats into the traps.
Once a cat is inside, the trap closes and the cats are then safely taken to a vet where they are sterilized and returned to their colony the next day.
We never remove the cats from their colonies, we only give them the opportunity to live a better life without countless litters.
For November & December, we have successfully trapped, sterilized and returned XXXXX of cats and we are not done yet, we have another sterilization day coming up later in the month and we hope to add about 30 cats to the list.
For the year so far, we have sterilized over XXXX cats from various colonies in and around Harties.
So many lives have been changed for the better. We have big dreams for 2024 so please keep an eye on our social media for more TNR updates.
Thank you to all the kindhearted people who donated in the past month.
